MacKinnon leads Capers past Varsity Reds

Playing from behind for one of the few times this season, the Cape Breton University Capers women's soccer team rallied back from an early goal to defeat the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds 2-1 in AUS action Sunday in Sydney.
The win improved the Capers regular season undefeated streak to 24 games and vaulted them into first place in the AUS standings with a 5-0-3 record this season.
Brianna Ford opened the scoring for UNB, giving the visitors a lead just three minutes into the game.
Second-year defender Kara MacKinnon headed home a corner kick for the Capers in the 41st minute to even things up and send he teams to half tied 1-1.
MacKinnon added her second of the season in the 75th minute with what would prove to be the winner for the home side.
Tiffany O'Donnell made three saves for the win in the CBU goal. Kelsie Hope had 11 saves in a losing cause for UNB.
CBU will hit the turf Sunday at 1 p.m. for a first place showdown with Moncton at the Cape Breton Health Recreation Complex on the CBU campus.
