Weekly Award Winners
A fifth-year community studies student in her fourth year of eligibility from Pickering, Ont., Bell-Davies anchored the Capers' back line in two shutout victories this past weekend en route to winning the Subway AUS women's soccer championship hosted by Mount Allison University.
Cape Breton earned a 1-0 semi-final win over the UPEI Panthers Saturday and a 3-0 victory over the Acadia Axewomen in Sunday's championship final to secure the AUS banner.
Bell-Davies' back line kept the Panthers to just five shots on goal, and Acadia to just one through the duration of the game. She earned the AUS championship MVP award for her efforts in addition to being named to the AUS second team all-star squad earlier in the week.
Previously, Bell-Davies was named an AUS second team all-star in 2011 and a first team all-star in 2012.
With the win, the Capers claim not only the conference title, but the lone AUS berth in the CIS women's soccer championship this weekend at the University of Toronto.
