SYDNEY, NS - The winning ways for the CAPERS continued on a rainy Sunday afternoon as the women defeated the Mt.Allison Mounties(1-5-0) 2-0 at the CBU field. With the win, Cape Breton University ran their record to a perfect 6-0-0 in AUS action.
5th year forward Chelsea Currie (Coxheath, NS) opened the scoring in the 1st half with a volley over the top of Mounties goalkeeper Tessa Ritchie in the 39th minute. The assist went Ciera Disipio (Ottawa, ON).
In the 2nd half, the Mounties were called for a foul inside the box resulting in a penalty. Disipio converted the penalty for the CAPERS in the 61st minute. Chelsea Currie scored and insurance 82nd minute to seal the victory. The skies opened up after that and the CAPERS defended well the rest of the way for the victory. Rachel Yerxa (Mississauga, ON) earned the clean sheet. The CAPERS outshot the Mounties 12-0 on the afternoon.
The CAPERS are back in action next Saturday, October 1st when they host the Moncton Aigles de Bleu at 1.00pm. Mt.Allison returns home to host UPEI on Friday, September 30th.
