SYDNEY, NS – On an emotional day, the CAPERS took care of the Aigles de Bleu 3-0. The sun was shining during Stephen "Ness" Timmons Recognition Day and the CAPERS had goals from three different scorers on the afternoon. The coach was honored post game for recently completing his 20th season as head coach of the women's soccer team. The CAPERS win moves their record to a perfect 7-0-0 and they sit atop the AUS standings. With the loss Moncton falls to 2-6-0.
5th year forward Chelsea Currie (Coxheath, NS) scored one and assisted on another to earn the Subway Player of the Game. Madison Goodliffe (Mississauga, ON) also scored one and added an assist. The third CAPERS was scored by substitute Chantal Caron (Ottawa, ON).
Dominique Leblanc (Dieppe, NB) stopped 12 0f 15 shots in an outstanding effort but took the loss for Moncton. CAPERS goaltenders Lizzy Trottier (Barrie, ON) and Rachel Yerxa (Mississauga, ON) each played a half and stopped all shots for a shared clean sheet in the victory.
The game was followed by a moving ceremony to recognize Timmons who has guided the CAPERS to 8 AUS titles and one National CIS title in 2007.
The CAPERS next travel to New Brunswick to play University of New Brunswick in Fredericton on October 15th and then face the Universitie de Moncton again on October 16th. Both game start at 1pm.
