Moncton, NB - The Cape Breton University women's team defeated Moncton 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in New Brunswick. The CAPERS scored two second-half goals to run their record to 9-0-0 to lead the AUS standings. Moncton falls to 2-7-1.
The CAPERS received goals from Kennedy Curry (Coldbrook, NS) and Chantal Caron (Ottawa, ON) midway through the second half. Moncton's Alexandra Maltais responded in the 79th minute but it was not enough to stop the nationally 7th ranked CAPERS from keeping there perfect season alive.
Rachel Yerxa (Mississauga, ON) saved 2 of 3 shots for the win and Dominique LeBlanc saved 11 of 13 shots in a losing effort. The CAPERS controlled the play for most of the game but it took deep into the second half to finally break through.
The CAPERS next travel to St.Mary's and Acadia next Saturday and Sunday to try and keep their perfect record intact. Both games start at 1pm.
