Cape Breton picks up 5-0 win over Mounties
The Cape Breton Capers continued their winning ways on Sunday as they rolled into Sackville and defeated the hometown Mounties 5-0.
Cape Breton struck quickly on a blustery afternoon at Alumni Field as Alliyah Rowe scored just eight minutes into the game to give the Capers a 1-0 lead. Seven minutes later Erin Freeman added to the lead as she scored her first of two goals on the afternoon.
Freeman struck again in the 37 minutes to give the Capers a 3-0 lead and command of the game. In the 40th minute Rowe picked up her 2nd goal of the half as Cape Breton took a 4-0 advantage into the locker room.
The Mounties would settled down in the 2nd half, playing even with Cape Breton until the 87th minute when Amelia Carlini finished off the scoring on the day and giving the Capers a 5-0 win.
The Mounties will return to action when they host StFX on Saturday, September 21st at 1PM.
