It took a few minutes for the Cape Breton University Capers' offence to get going, but then a three-goal performance by game MVP Alliyah Rowe and a shutout by goaltender Ellie Lancaster gave the visitors a 6-0 win over the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues on Saturday afternoon at Stade Croix Bleue Medavie Stadium on the Moncton campus in an Atlantic University Sport women's soccer game.
The Capers scored 3 goals in each of the halves to get the 3 points in the standings and led 12-5 in kicks, 5-2 in corner kicks and scoring three goals and the goaltenders made 3 (Lancaster) and 6 saves (Krista Phillips) respectively.
The game was fast-paced, and both teams showed good skill on the field. The game took place mostly in the Aigles Bleues' zone, especially in the second half. The Capers still showed why they haven't lost yet this season with their superior passing game and kicks. Izabelle Gallant was named player of the game for the home team.
The Aigles Bleues visit the Mount Allison University Mounties on Thursday at 5 p.m. The Capers host the Memorial University Sea-Hawks on Friday at 5 p.m.
